Grey Knight

Wow, this blog is dusty!

Seems that real life caught up with me and I have hardly been doing any hobbying lately. I have to say, I've missed it. I got a few 6th edition games in and I have to say, I have really enjoyed the dynamic and fun they have put into it.
But after playing a game with proxies for Grey Knights, I figured I should get some painted up!

For my Grey Knights I did not want to have shiny metal warriors with a hint of blue on them. I wanted to have them be darker and more gritty. Because my Eldar use teals, tans/whites as well for most of their forces, I wanted something more dark and shaded. Here are some shots of my first model.

For the power weapon I wanted a subtle way of working with it, so I went with a suggestion from Ron over at FTW that he had gotten from a friend. (Thanks Ron!) As well, I did a few light layers of drybrushing to give it a nice glow. The grays are darker and I mentioned them here for an earlier posting.

This being my first space marine, I can say it was a nice change of pace and a bit of fun to work with the model. Hopefully more will be making their way onto here soon!

Comments are always welcome!

Basing Material

So, I headed up to the Superior north shore for some vacation time and while walking the "sandy beaches" I found some great basing material.

Grey Knight Scheme: Part II

Oh we all saw this coming. I was cruising more of the Internets and was still searching for a scheme for my upcoming Grey Knights and while my previous post had a good chunk of info in it about the schemes that people have done with the metals and methods with those.
But I had been poking around for something else, not a NMM look, but more flat. Especially going around the latest tournament with people playing Grey Knights, I found myself being drawn the to the less shiny, and I think I found a winner.

WIP: Baneblade

Hey all! I'm doing some commission work for BHTechMech for his Baneblade.
I thought that a digital snow camo would look really cool on something like that vehicle plus the challenge is enough of a work that it felt right to do.
The base coat and most of the assembly!

Tournament Results

Well, after a lot of work and effort, I made it past my first tournament. And I will say that it was a lot of fun and I learned a ton in a very short amount of time.
I will post a few of the pictures here, but all the pictures will be on the Galleries page and in a slideshow. Check them out!
Yes, move those Necrons to their doom!

40k Draft

I swear I will post some pics of my painted stuff soon......
But first, something hilarious and awesome. A group of us at the FLGS (The Source) are doing what is called a 40k Draft. Similar in design to Fantasy Football, but WAY more awesome.
These two?! Working together?! The heresy! Delicious, wonderful heresy

Wet Palette Creation

So I have found something new and exciting. Something that a lot of you all out there have known about. I created a wet palette, and I am still trying to wrap my head around why I did not create one sooner!

Grey Knights Scheme

I come to the crossroads of a painting career here. I am trying to decide how I am going to paint my new army: Grey Knights.
Now, from the gasps in the crowd I take it that you did not know! I had a friend that wanted to play Tau, so I made a trade for my Battleforce for some Grey Knight kits. But here comes the problem, how to paint them.

Wave Serpents!

So over the weekend I got started into the meat of my painting project for the upcoming tourny.
They are mostly completed, I need to do the outside etching and inside pulses, but they are workable for play testing and are nice to see getting done!

Eldar Support Weapon

Hello!

It has certainly been a while since I have posted, and sadly real life is getting in the way of painting again. But I have gotten my hands on and painted up the Eldar support weapon, a few Guardians and I'm starting on my Avatars of War model. Pics are below!

Workspace and Projects

Well I'm on to my next project, Warp Spiders. The cleaning is underway and I never really did give a review on Finecast. I know it has been beaten into the ground, but a few things I have picked up at fairly important.

Eldar Lynx Finished

Hey guys,

So! I finished my big project for the winter season and I have to say, I am very proud of this project. Being this is a super heavy tank, I knew I had my work cut out for me. But I am excited it is done and cannot wait to field it next weekend for the big Apocalypse game I'll be in.

More pics and comments after the break.

Eldar Lynx - Weekend Work

Hey guys,

After working a good solid while on my Lynx, I got these pictures out of it.
I took these with my phone, so that would explain a lot! I have the end of the gun, fins, etching (inner and out), pulse effect, and the touchups to do, but it is getting closer! I'm happy with the progress and I love the scheme.
My goal is to have this completed before the next Apocalypse day, got to make Land Raiders scared!

Cygnar Stormclad Complete!

Got my first item off my list for my resolution, the Cygnar Stormclad was a gift from a friend for Christmas and was a great model to paint.
Who wouldn't want to paint this guy?!
I was very pleased about how he turned out, he makes a great addition to my force and really feels like the colors belong.

New Year Resolution

Well, I figured out my new year's resolution for my painting/gaming.
I am going to.....wait for it......paint all the models I have!

*gasps from the crowd, people fainting from the sheer mentioning!*

I realize what I am saying, but look at the stack! Just look at it!
The stack.....of DOOM!
