Merry Christmas!
So for a gift from my grandmother-in-law, and partial to me, I bought an Eldar Lynx. It came on the 23rd and I could hardly wait to crack it open. The thing is HUGE compared to my other tanks. I got to say, I am extremely excited to start painting it, but first, some shots of the thing!

Touch Ups: Part 2
Hey all,
Finally got one of my Falcon bodies touched up, and I have to say, it is FAR better than it was before. I had a bunch of comments from people around the area that loved the color of my originals, and for the time they were made, awesome.
But I am really happy at how this turned out! Check out the pics below!

Objective Markers
Something that I have noticed over the course of playing a few missions is the need for objective markers.
Points of interest that look good are even better! I know for me, I have used models, bases, even pop cans!
But to get some solid looking objectives, you have to put a little effort into them.

Warmachine: Cygnar Approaches!
Hey all,
Over the weekend I got an early gift from a friend for the Cygnar Stormclad, and I have to say, the detail on this model is amazing! I am really looking forward to painting him up and adding him to my force.
But first I need to finish the said force that I started. So here is what I got done over the weekend!

Model Update: D&D, Deathwatch, and Blood Angels
These are pictures of my tasty projects, I would list my to do projects like Fayte but I'd have to make another page. None of these are totally done, some need basing, some need touch ups, some need to be finally put together.
Experiment
Hey all,
So, as a fail moment, I deleted all the pics of the finished BHTechMech's new dreadnought off my computer. So I have to wait for those from him! But in the mean time, I thought you would all enjoy this!

Painting to a game
Hey all,
Above is the force I am thinking about using at the Source, a FLGS in St. Paul. They are having a Apocalypse 40k game Nov. 12th and you can put in a force of between 500 and 2500.

Moar Pictures!
Hey all,
Got a little bit of painting in last night with a few friends and got most of another Warjack worked on and the base finished! Once you know the paint scheme, it goes a lot quicker the next time.

Bottom line I will not miss another limited edition, 3000 only in English, Horus Heresy (H.H.) book, and wait two years for a re-release. Fifty USD is a lot to spend for me, and I really could care less about the authors signature, but I have to own the series!

Epic Weekend of Epicness!
Hello all,
As the title says, it was an epic weekend. My group for D&D just finished our final encounter of the campaign, and while a little sad to leave a character, it was by far one of the best endings. (If a little cliche)

Space Marines, ATTACK!
Alright,
The real reason I haven't been posting.....or painting as of late has been a few games. First off Sins of a Solar Empire has taken my friends and I back for another spell of conquering solar systems. (In the name of the Emperor, of course!) Bastion for it's amazing narrative and great story, and finally Darksiders which is a great story based single-player that will suck you in. Darksiders is important because.....
On Steam it comes with the pre-order of Space Marine!

Venerable Dreadnought |
Ironclad Dreadnought |
Hey all,
I played (and in a moment of weakness, bought) Kill Team for the PS3. I have to say, it is a ton of fun. The voices and the feel of the game scream Warhammer 40k, and honestly want to make me paint more and possible have a battle inside of an Ork cruiser! I would highly recommend it and find a friend to play with too!

In other news, this weekend a friend of mine and I are going to paint to our hearts content! Got to get those armies rolled out, I still have the Tau, Eldar and some Warmachine models to get to also! And, hopefully soon, BHTechMech is having me paint up an awesome Dreadnought for his Death Company squad! I cannot wait to get my hands on that bad boy!
Also, looking over Forge World and not having any Space Marines, the Astral Claws really caught my eye. I really would like to paint them and make a small, but useable force for skirmishes. I might start it off with a Dreadnought of my own. The Ironclad or Venerable looks like a fun model to paint and play with. Any thoughts on the two?

D&D Ork Done!
Well, here is the finished product. I threw on a matte spray to dull down the metals a bit and I really like how it came out. I am concerned a bit because it left a white, powdery dust on the model.
It's alright because I will be basing it with snow and having him look like he is in an area with snow. What concerns me is that the spray might do this forward. Anyone have this issue? Did I not shake long enough?
But enough about that, here are the shots!

The Black Library - Architect of Fate
Check this out, straight off of Black Library. Many months out, but truly amazing Cover Art. The art will be a reference I will be using for my model of Greater Daemon of Tzeentch. Ben Counter is involved which should make the words drip off of the page and increase the hunger I have for the 40,000 universe.

D&D Ork! WIP
In painting for D&D, I try to look at the model for a character and decide what I want to paint them based on that personality and style.
With this model, I really wanted to capture a pit fighter. Someone that really is scared from battle and craves for blood, bored at any other situation they are thrown into. It was a lot of fun to build the character, and I wanted the model to be just as fun to paint.
So when the Finecast stuff released I saw the Big Black Ork Boss from Warhammer Fantasy and thought to myself that it would be an AWESOME D&D piece to have around. I picked him up next chance I got (as per previous posts) and dove into him. Here are some WIP shots!
The armor is a classic color scheme for me, but darkened with more wash this time around. Its Chaos Black based, heavy stipple with Tin Bitz and hit it with Badab Black wash. I had it washed about three times to really get the grunge factor in. The model is really coming together I think, and I will have better pictures up for him soon.
But for now, enjoy a good WAAAAAAAGH! and keep painting!
Fayte
*EDIT*
I learned something new from a fellow painter, do NOT prime your Finecast resin models. Make sure you wash them in warm soapy water, but once they are dry, they are ready to paint. Apparently the resin soaks up the paint, giving it a much more authentic feel. Guess you learn something new every day!

Revised Changes
Alright, other than the blue my Scarlet Hawks are as uniform as I want them to be. I still would like more feedback, but I chose to only make the Helmets and hands different to denote what they are within the chapter/company. I felt Commanders and Sargents should stand out, as the others should but not as much attention. Basically on the battlefield I imagine the marines glancing and seeing gold and knowing Commander Bad-ass is over there, or the commander glancing seeing bronze and knowing where his Devi's are deployed at.

Changes
Alright I have some news. After some thought I have decided to adjust my paint scheme. In deciding the Paint Scheme I wanted something that would still allow me to play my beloved Blood Angels, but would give me a little uniqueness. Mainly so I can play the standard Space Marines codex to expand my amount of various models. Thanks to Bolter and Chainsword I am able to post these preliminary pictures of my ideas. Please comment I want some feedback.

Resources? Look no further!
Hello all,
I have to say, one of the most impressive places to find resources on strategies, painting, modelling, and gaming I think is the blog rolls on the right side of the From The Warp blog. I have found new schemes, models and sites reading different people's blogs for research in my own modelling and playing.
It expands what you currently know about it and also allows you to share ideas and plans with others that you might not normally see in the real world.
If you haven't already done so, please go there and poke around. The worst that happens is you lose some time on the internet, like that hasn't happened before! So go ahead and click on the icon in the top right hand side of the blog and check out that site.
Enjoy all! I know I do.

Moving, done. Back to painting.
Hello all,
Sorry I haven't posted in a bit. My wife and I moved into a new home and have been settling in nicely there.
But, after all that packing and unpacking, I have to say I am excited to start painting once more! I need to get some good photos of my new D&D mini (it's the Finecast for the Black Ork Boss) and finish him up and paint some more of my Tau.
Speaking of, I am trying to find a way to paint them white and have a solid, but not boring color scheme with them. So far my Devilfish and Crisis suit look good, but when I come to the Fire warriors, I can't seem to get the white look to stick well. I was thinking mostly of painting them shades of grey (darker: Fortress Grey, lighter: Space Wolves Grey). That way the scheme will feel very similar without taking away from it. With that, I will likely be highlighting with Hawk Turquoise because of its similar feel to the blues and tie it in with other armies.
Hopefully more pics up soon, back to unpacking my painting space!

Scarlet Hawks
Hello Blog Readers,
I decided it was time for me to write a post. I have now decided to switch, only slightly, to a different paint scheme from Blood Angels. As of late I have noticed the many BA players and also I would like to field Chapter Champions, Venerable Dreadnoughts and the like. So, with out further adieu I am making an army called the Scarlet Hawks. A portion of my army will still be Blood Angels since I love them so and have painted many already, but the rest will be a Mechrite red with the Raptors insignia since it looks like a hawk. The paint scheme will also be Mechrite so when I field as Blood Angels it won't look too off.
My new army will be an army 300th founding (just kidding) of the Rogal Dorn, because I like the Imperial Fists and Black Templars as well, but will play out of the Space Marine Codex. I hope to have pictures up soon of a Blood Angels Dreadnought, Vindicator, and Commander. Then some basic Tactical Marines of the Scarlet Hawk paint scheme. I will also get a review out of my new air sprayer and compressor I purchased, and hopefully a book or two as I have finished reading all the Blood Angels literature out there now and a great novel by Steve Lyons. (never liked any of his before this one...)
Finally I want to thank Fayte for keeping up with the blog, Secret Holy Angel Painter for an awesome paint job and showcase for our blog, and of course our two followers!!! Thank you all and stay tuned, our group is growing with Orks, Tau, and Necrons. Even a little Deathwatch.

Father's Day!
Happy Father's Day all of you fathers out there! I know I am yet to be one (my wife would like otherwise) but I can attest that my dad has always supported what hobbies I do and enjoys to see my work, so I would like to thank him at the very least!
Along with that, it was a weekend off from life it seemed. I got to relax and paint my new Ork mini that I mentioned earlier. It is a really nice model to paint with! Though something I am noticing that I forgot to do in my excitement, wash the model. It seems that the resin holds on to the oil more than regular plastic and started to not hold the primer on the model. It was a bit odd to see large chips in paint, but it's a live and learn type of scenario.
But that is all for now guys, I'll have new pics up soon and hopefully BHTechMech will post soon enough! I know he is busy with school and work.

Finecast?! Yes!
Alright, my D&D group is starting up a new campaign soon here (nerdy is as nerdy comes!) and I picked out a new model for my character. Being I wanted to see how the Citadel Finecast models handled, I picked up this gem.
And I can tell you, it is one of the best models I have looked at. The detail is amazing, the feel of the resin is great. Lightweight and durable, it also is flexible and easy to deal with! I've just taken it off the sprue and cleaned it up, putting damage on the armor is a breeze too! I don't feel like it will shatter or not be terribly easy. So far, I am loving it. To the point that if painting it is as nice as cleaning it was, I would love for GW to switch all of the models to resin.
*Edit* After seeing a bunch of comments on other blogs, I can see the trouble people are having with bubbles, flashing and mismatched molds. But I have to point out that it will only get better, with any new release, there are always issues you will see initially. But I would hope that these issues get brought up with GW were they will make changes. I'm glad they are moving forward though, and not staying where they were. It shows that as a company, while wanting to make money, they do care about the end crafter/player.
Any comments on what you think of the new models?

Holy Blood Angels.....
It's Friday! Whoo!
This weekend, it looks like we are having a group painting event going on and getting some units on the table. I have to say that one of the best things about painting is painting in a group. It's much easier to bounce ideas off one another and makes the modeling process that much more fun.
But I bring up my friends models he just finished. I bring you......
The Sanguinor! This was completed by a friend of mine on Wednesday, and it simply looks stunning. He dumped about 20 hours in on this guy and countless layers of gold. It was all worth it I think for a great looking model and will be amazing to field for the awe of his enemies. (Myself included...)
Here are some shots of his Sanguinary Guard:
Well, hopefully I'll get some shots this weekend of Deathwatch model work and some sweet minis hitting the table. Until next time, may the Emperor Protect!

Deathwatch!
So as a side game to our normal D&D group, as the Warhammer 40k pool grows, so does our interest in the lore and universe. While most of us do not play Space Marine armies, we all like the style and lore that goes with it. After a bit of shopping at the local hobby store (The Source), someone found the Deathwatch RPG.
Paging through it, it sounded like a ton of fun! So we made sure to get a group started for it. This Saturday will mark the first time of playing and getting a mission started. Hopefully we'll have a good battle report to bring to you! First part of the day is finishing up the character creation, then its on to give a shot at playing and in between that time, possibly getting some painting of the minis in! So much to do on one Saturday!
As a side note, I would like to throw in my two cents on the Citadel Finecast. I love it, I think it should have been one of the first things to switch hands down. Working with resin is so much easier than metal and feels much safer. It also turns out cleaner than most pewter models that I have looked at. I'm excited to eventually get and paint one of the new models. Hopefully the Tau Sniper team will be my first!
Well that's all for now folks! Keep the dice rolling and the paint flowing!

Happy Memorial Day!
First off, I would like to thank our troops and those who have served for your sacrifice and dedication. So from the bottom of my and BHTechMech's hearts, thank you.
Secondly, a friend of ours just started to paint his new Necron Monolith. The thing is huge! Check it out next to my Falcon. Along with it being awesome, he and another guy are planning on lighting it up with some LEDs and some EL wire to give it a creepy (and very Necron) feel. Hopefully I'll have pics up for it soon!

Terrain, it makes the map.
It's been a month since posting the information on the plan of making a Cities of Death terrain set and it still hasn't happened! But this weekend a few of us 40k players are getting together for an over the weekend terrain creation time! Whoo!
Hopefully over the course of two-days, we will get out some terrain that has been sitting in the corner of BHTechMech's basement corner. Get some trees, hills, grass, etc. out on the field for an awesome array of different terrain to put out. It will make it infinity better than using spice jars and boxes for our terrain. Along with that, plan on seeing a battle report floating here soon, we have one of the guys helping not ever have played 40k and wants to give it a shot. I suppose some Chaos can die by our hands, but then we have Necrons to worry about also! Expect pictures soon!
With that, we will also be building plans for the Cities of Death board we will be using. If anyone has suggestions on how you did it, put it in the comments below! I know we would love to get any suggestions on how to proceed with our planning.....
Along with all that excitement, we are going to get some of the 40k guys together for Deathwatch. It's a 40k based RPG that places you in a Deathwatch squad. I can feel the excitement building each time one of the guys talks about it. Hopefully we'll get that rolling out soon and have a good battle report to go with some of the missions.
So as always: Keep those dice rolling, the paint flowing and may the Emperor protect!

Painting! Whoo!
As we get closer to the summer, I know BHTechMech and I have been planning some days for painting en mass some minis and terrain!
One of the issues we have been having playing is something that many new players have issues with: having awesome terrain to really get the feel for the game we play. So after looking over some articles. We found a good guide on how to manage a Cities of Death board that is modular and cheap to make with a few friends. (Links below) After seeing this, it is within our grasp to make a fun and exciting game for all of us to have a hand in and be proud! Should be fun, and pics will be coming online soon after we are done.

Xenos!
Personally, I have a Xenos problem......
For my birthday, I got another Eldar model, the Warp Hunter. I love this model, my wife was one of the first to suggest nabbing it for me. So it is ordered and in the mail.
Other than that, I received birthday cash and was looking at buying the Chaos Space Marines battleforce, but thought about it for a little bit. While I enjoy the lore and stories, I was looking at some of the creative model styles and the form of play.
I am excited to announce that I have started the small force of a new army to play, the Tau.
The battleforce and codex are ordered and in the mail! Seems that this birthday was full of models, and possibly far more than I have time for!
Happy painting and playing!

Fire Prism at the ready......
Hello all!
Seems like a long time since I have added a post here, but it has been a busy season for me!
Good news is I got a few models as gifts for Christmas. Something to paint and work on in the future! Its a good thing for sure.
But some news, in the included link, I finished my Fire Prism tank for painting and modeling! I decided as a scheme that I wanted to have a craftworld look old and antiqued. Very similar to my Avatar, so after looking at the paints and such that I had, this seemed like the best option for the painting.
I enjoy how it looks and feels. There will be more to come with this scheme, hopefully you all enjoy it as much as I enjoyed painting it.
As always, comments are always welcome on my page!

New Links Conversion Theft
I was checking out some of the Blogs I follow and came across a picture of a very awesome mini. I thought what army is that from?!? Found out it was from the game Warmachine...interesting. Followed the game back to its creators, Privateer Press, and found out they have several very cool Steam Punk games. How this applies to 40k? Glad you asked, simply put minis from other games sometimes give you that one figure you have been searching for to make an awesome HQ or sergeant or whatever. Point being I am naming the link section Other Games, Conversion Theft. I will be adding more links as I find them. Also if anyone knows of a worthwhile link/game to rob minis from send it to me or post it in the comments, thanks!

Retribution
Ten years after the death of Grandfather Nurgle's Daemon Retribution is to be had...
The latest installment in the video game series Dawn of War is coming March 1, 2011! The next stand alone expansion is known as Dawn of War II: Retribution. I cannot wait to get my hands on it so I am pre-ordering it on Steam. With this I also get a choice of extra equipment for one of five races: Space Marines, Chaos Marines, Eldar, Imperial Guard, and only on Steam Orks!
Now I love the Orks and used to have a 2500 point, approxiamtly, army of them. They are a galaxy wide annoyance, and who doesn't love a good Waaaaagh every now and then. So, I am very excitied to have a campaign version of them in this expansion. The pirate hat is great piece of war-gear too, since any fan of 40k knows that the Orks are comic relief for this galaxy. Red makes it go faster! Although do not underestimate them because in strength you will not find them lacking.
In the links you will find a link to the Dawn of War II website. It has not been fully updated yet to contain much of a preview to Retribution, but if you watch the video you get a small teaser. Check Dawn of War II: Retribution out on Steam too. You will find screenshots and a summary of the game. In short the single player campaign is now like Dawn of War: Soulstorm where you can play any of the six races. This game will only include Tyranids, Space Marines (Blood Ravens), Chaos Marines, Imperial Guard, Eldar, and Orks. Leaving room for a fourth expansion if THQ, Relic, and Games Workshop want to go that route. I believe this is coming out because of the game's success in the past and Space Marine being a console system only first didn't do that well. Another reason Space Marine will be bridged over to PC this coming Summer.
Now, as far as my dilemma of which race to pre-order for, I am stuck between the Dark Gods of Chaos and Orks. Any suggestions would be great. REMEMBER there is only 1 month, 3 weeks, 3 days and 5 hours before the release so get ready for RETRIBUTION all ye sinners!

HAPPY NEW YEAR
Nothing much happening, been doing very little painting. Found that really cool Picasa showcase, see earlier posts, and has inspired me to try harder to individualize my models. But this weekend is the weekend that I go over to Faytes new home and paint with him and hopefully finally finish my dreadnought and captain. I am doubtful, but I will try too. Plus his latest discovery of a very good looking ancient brass style is something I aim to master for my dreadnought this weekend. This year is going to be tough for my gaming world, but I am hoping to finish my tanks for the Blood Angels. Read my 21 Black Library books I have purchased, and beat the video games as well. All this while keeping my job, maintaining school grades and just keeping normal life in order. To those who see this blog please follow if you are a Warhammer 40k fan. I will have Fayte post his models in Picasa to have in the showcase section. I will begin to write reviews for the Black Library books I have read. And in short order I will review the Ultramarines movie! Yes I own and have viewed once, decent, but the remainder to be posted in the Reviews section. Have a good year everyone, Emperors blessing to all who believe and Warp damn the rest of you lot.
